50 Hr Yoga Nidra and Kriya Meditation Teacher Training
This training is taught through the lens of ISHTA Yoga. ISHTA is the Integrated Science of Hatha Tantra and Ayurveda. It means "that which resonates with the individual spirit" and it is a beautiful system of ancient techniques and modern understanding that allows for the individual to find their own unique way into a balanced state.
Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation that helps us to release tension on the physical, mental and emotional levels. In this healing practice of “yogic sleep” we have the ability to reduce pain, replace sleep, move into an expanded state of consciousness, release old habits and beliefs, create new neural connections, and find more balance in our lives.
This 50 hour training is a profound yet accessible program designed for seasoned teachers as well as aspiring meditators that will give you the skills and confidence you need to deepen your practice and share your meditation, whether through your teaching or by living your life with a renewed sense of presence and purpose.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
A deeper understanding of yourself and the process of your evolution and growth.
The ability to prepare the body and mind for practice using pranayama, visualization, and other techniques
An understanding of how to create practices to ground, inspire and bring balance
A better understanding of how Nidra relates to the koshas, releases tension, and connects us to a higher consciousness
An ability to create nidra practices for group classes, privates, and children
An understanding of the 9 steps of Mona Anand ISHTA Yoga Nidra, as created by Yogiraj Alan Finger and Yogiraj Mona Anand, so you can adjust the practice to suit who and what you are teaching.
Physical and energetic preparation for meditation practice via appropriate asana, pranayama techniques and sequencing.
Meditation techniques including kriya (visualization), mantra (sound), and mudra (hand gestures) that help us to tune and focus the mind and emotions.
Regrounding techniques to help feel rooted and stable after meditation.
A practice to help channel the effects of your meditation back into living.
The philosophical framework of Tantra and the Yoga Sutras to ground us in an understanding of how and why these ancient practices work and help us apply our learning to our contemporary lives and practices.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Learning is experiential as well as conceptual. In this training, participants will be supported in developing their personal meditation practice with the intention of gaining the skills to authentically share the wisdom and techniques of Yoga Nidra and ISHTA Yoga Meditation with others.
The format will include a balance of lecture, practice, and informal conversation and mentorship.

Wendy Newton - Yogiraj - ISHTA Master Teacher
Wendy Newton, E-RYT 500, C-IAYT, BCPP, is a yoga master, Polarity therapist and author. Wendy is an initiated yogiraj in the ISHTA Yoga lineage, and co-authored Tantra of the Yoga Sutras (2018) with Alan Finger, founder of ISHTA Yoga. She is senior faculty and mentor in the ISHTA Yoga teacher training program and the Yoga Polarity Center’s Yoga Therapy and Polarity Therapy programs. She conducts workshops and trainings internationally at the intersection of yoga, energy medicine and personal empowerment. Her work with private clients and groups combines her passion for harnessing the power of yoga, meditation, and energy work to facilitate ease and expression within the individual as well as within community. Wendy’s work is intended to inspire students, clients, and communities to move through life with grace no matter the external conditions, and to gain perspective in their lives.
Peter Ferko - Yogiraj - ISHTA Master Teacher
Peter Ferko began practicing yoga more than 20 years ago at Alan Finger’s YogaWorks in Los Angeles. He studied there with Rod Stryker and Patricia Townsend. He studied meditation with Yogananda’s Self Realization Fellowship where he learned Kriya Yoga techniques. He sampled Iyengar and Ashtanga styles before landing back with Alan upon moving to New York in 1999. After decades of practice, he obtained the Yoga Alliance 500-Hour teaching certification from Be Yoga’s training program and now teaches both students and teacher trainees. Peter’s approach to yoga involves tuning out the voices that tell us what we can’t do physically and why we’re not “there yet” and tuning in to the inner yoga. We are perfect yogis as we practice the yoga that’s perfect for us. In addition to his yoga pursuits, Peter is a multi-media artist and brings creativity, imagery, and a sense of humor to his teaching. “Asana and pranayama are the ways to balance physical and subtle energy, meditation is a chance to fill with understanding, and life full of energy and understanding is just plain better.” -P.F.
Bridgette Shaw - ISHTA Senior Teacher and Sadhaka Yogi
Bridgette's yoga journey began back in 1998 while at theatre conservatory in Chicago. She began her studies in the Iyengar style and found herself in an apprenticeship which led her to teaching. In 2005 she took her first teacher training in the Anusara style in Chicago. In 2008 she was living in NY and discovered ISHTA Yoga which is where she found her yoga home. She got her 500hr RYT and 65hr Master’s Training with Yogiraj Alan Finger and his master teaching staff and has been studying with them for the past 11years. She has studied and taken master classes with Martin and Jordan Kirk, Noah Maze, Sharon Saltberg, Krishna Das, Judith Hanson-Lasater, and many others. She also worked with world renowned Ayurvedic Dr.'s Pratima Raishur and Dr. Pankaj Naram. Bridgette’s classes are taught in a way which helps you to bring yourself into balance within a group setting. We are all unique in our bodies and our breath and it is so with our practice as well. Our breath can be a great teacher, if we truly listen, there is potential for great transformation. When the mind is quiet we can tap into the universal consciousness, which is always available. In this space we can access our truth and the shift begins. There will always be modifications, props, lessons in alignment, pranayama, meditation and chanting in her classes. Bridgette specializes in Yoga Nidra, Meditation, Hormone Yoga Therapy, and Restorative Yoga. She believes that yoga is, and should be, accessible to every body.
